Let's make a good showing from Sconset on social media! In addition to posting with the hashtag #NantucketTrashtag and tagging @nantucketlandcouncil (as requested, see details below), let's all add the hashtag #SconsetCleanTeam. This would be a great week for collectively cleaning up Sconset beach. Let's show the rest of ACK what we can do!!
"The Nantucket Land Council Associates has organized a socially-distanced beach cleanup on Nantucket and beyond Aug. 4-9.
Instead of gathering together, it asks participants bring gloves and bags to a beach (or trail or street) anywhere they are, any time during the week of Aug. 4-9 and collect the trash they find. Once they’ve filled a bag, download the free Clean Swell app from the app store and upload how many plastic bottles, balloons, glass bottles, etc. were collected.
Take a picture of yourself and your group, and post to social media with the hashtag #NantucketTrashtag and tag @nantucketlandcouncil.
A few environmentally-friendly tips from the Nantucket Department of Public Works:
‒ Wear gardening gloves, dishwashing gloves or any washable reusable gloves rather than plastic disposable gloves.
‒ Use brown Stop & Shop paper bags (double bagged works best) rather than a plastic clear bag.
‒ Before taking off your gloves, sort your trash into recyclable plastic, aluminum, glass, compostable or non-compostable/non-recyclable items and then dispose of them in your household trash/recycling/compost."
